Time of Changes
The XIXth century saw great changes, such as the arrival of new technologies, the first steps towards industrialisation and the decline of the trades system. It was in this context that the flintlock was replaced by the percussion cap system in the arms industry. Thanks to this invention, and others such as the rifled bore, great progress was made in the technical development of arms. It was also in this period that the first breech-loading weapons appeared.
