ROOM 05 Pepperboxes and revolvers. 19th and 20th Centuries.

Time of growth

New attempts to design a gun that would fire several shots led to the production of pepperboxes, small arms equipped with several barrels that rotate on an axis either manually or automatically on an axis when the trigger is pressed, and were the precursors of the revolver, arms with a cylinder and a single barrel.

Both muzzle-loading and breech-loading pepperboxes and revolvers from the 19th and 20th centuries are on show in display cabinets so that the technological evolution of the different models can easily be appreciated.

This section will also show the development of local businesses as a result of the mass production of revolvers in Eibar. We can trace their steps from the first revolvers produced by the Orbea brothers, the damascene work of Teodoro Ibarzabal, among others, to arms made by Society A.C. Alfa in the first quarter of the 20th century.
